Zuhair Al-Hussain joined Saudi Aramco in 1978, after graduating from KFUPM as a Petroleum Engineer. He was appointed Executive Director of Drilling and Workover on September 1, 2007. His work has been in the disciplines of oil production and drilling industries, holding various supervisory then managerial positions in Production and Drilling until his current position. He is a Director of SPE Saudi Arabia Section, has chaired the Northern Arabian Gulf Chapter of IADC and is an Executive Committee member of the IADC.

Johan Flikkema joined Maersk Oil Qatar as the Head of Drilling Engineering in March 2007 after having worked for Shell as a well engineering professional and manager in various locations for more than 28 years.


Paul-LaurieDr. Paul Lurie
Advisor, Novel Drilling & Innovation

Dr. Paul has been in the Innovation field, both as an innovator and developer of innovation processes, for the last 40 years. He has worked for a number of companies, including the de Beers Diamond Research Laboratory in South Africa, the Falconbridge Metallurgical Laboratory in Canada, and for the last 20 years in the BP Technology Centre in England. He has been a BP Advisor on Novel Drilling & Innovation for the last 5 years, and Chairman of the Innovation Board for the last 2 years. He has worked on a range of technologies, including Slimhole Drilling, Multilateral Wells, Expandable Technology, Hard Rock Drilling and a number of novel confidential drilling techniques. He holds more than 20 patents in the drilling and completion field.


ASIMAsim Al Zarouni
Head of Drilling

Asim started his professional career, after completing his Petroleum Engineering degree from the Colorado School of Mines, as a Drilling Supervisor with ADMA-OPCO in offshore rigs. He then moved to ADNOC as Senior Drilling Engineer then took the responsibilities of the Drilling Engineering Specialist with onshore E&P. Currently he is the Drilling Manager under E&P directorate for onshore, offshore and exploration drilling.


Fathi Abou Jmeih
Drilling Contracts Engineer, Drilling Division

Fathi Abou Jmeih, was born in 1958, He graduated in 1981 as a Mechanical Engineer from Lamar State University, USA. Fathi holds 27 years of diversified oilfield services experience, starting as a Completion Engineer with Dresser Europe in 1981. He then joined Uni-Arab Engineering eventually becoming an Operation Manager for different oilfield services and engineering projects. Then leaving to join Al-Ghaith Oilfield in 1997 as Deputy General Manager for different oilfield services. In 2004 he Joined ADMA-OPCO where to this date he is a Drilling Contracts Engineer.


Gamal Ismail Hassan
Senior Drilling Engineer, Well Operations

Gamal has over 26 years experience in oil fields, which include 12 years in PETROBEL and 14 years at ZADCO in Abu Dhabi. He has a long experience in constructing directional and horizontal drilling for offshore and onshore wells and horizontal drilling application in multilayered reservoirs. This includes 10 years experience in horizontal application and Pushing The Limits (PTL) of well construction approach in Upper Zakum Field (Offshore Abu Dhabi).


Khalifah Mohammed Al-Amri
Senior Workover Engineer, Workover Department
SAUDI ARAMCO

Khalifah Alamri has 10 years of working experience with Saudi Aramco. He joined Saudi Aramco late 1998 with an honor petroleum degree from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He joined Saudi Aramco as a Drilling Engineer for three years. Then he worked as a Production Engineer for a year. Early 2003, he was sent for his master's degree in petroleum engineering. He returned to the Drilling & Workover in 2005 and since then has been working with the Workover Department as a Senior Workover Engineer.


OmarOmar Al Husaini
General Manager, Drilling Operations
SAUDI ARAMCO

Omar Al Husaini is Manager of the Gas Drilling and Workover Department at Saudi Aramco. He has 27 years of experience in Drilling Engineering and Operations. An SPE member since 1983, he written numerous technical papers and participated in numerous drilling conferences worldwide. He holds an MS degree in Petroleum Engineering from Kansas University.


Peter Preining (MSc)
Drilling Manager, Drilling Department
OMV PAKISTAN

Peter Preining started working in oil fields in 1989 and increasingly got more involved as Derrick man, Driller and Tool Pusher in the industry. He joined Tuboscope Vetco in 1996 and, after having completed the training/education for non-destructive testing of materials in 1997, worked as inspector for Tuboscope as well as contracted driller for OMV Austria. After joining RAG (Rohoel Aufsuchungs Gesellschaft) in 1999 he completed the 'Deutsche Bohrmeisterschule' in Celle, Germany and continued working as Drilling Supervisor and Drilling Engineer for RAG until 2005. He joined the OMV Iran branch office and worked as an Engineer and Drilling Supervisor in the Ahvaz Oilfield (South Iran). From there he moved to OMV Pakistan as Drilling Superintendent in March 2006 until November where he took his current role as Drilling Manager.


Jackson Lusk
Supervisor, Quality, Safety & Best Practices Group, Drilling & Workover Operations
SAUDI ARAMCO

Jackson has 31-years experience in the oil and gas industry, starting in the field as a safety advisor and progressing to HSE Country Manager. He is responsible for establishing and directing safety programs, which have involved exploration and development drilling, production, workover, construction, maintenance, and refining. Currently, employed as the Quality Safety and Best Practices Group Supervisor for Saudi Aramco Drilling and Workover Operations, he is accountable to the management team for the day-to-day operations of Saudi Aramco’s HSE Group.


Ahmed-Abou-Soliman-ADMAAhmed Abou Soliman

Ahmed graduated as a Petroleum Engineer from Cairo University in 1973. He then worked in Egypt Onshore and Offshore drilling operations for Gulf of Suez Petroleum Company (GUPCO). Then in 1981 he joined ADCO in Abu Dhabi until 2007 when he moved to the position of Drilling Manager.


Adel Mohsen
Drilling General Manager

Eng. Adel graduated in 1978 in Petroleum Engineering from Suez Canal University. He joined the petroleum sector in Egypt in 1980. He has worked in various roles in Drilling and Petroleum Engineering disciplines in GPC including working for PETROBEL. Then in 2004 he joined BAPETCO as Drilling and Well Services Engineering General Manager.


David Ringrose
Drilling & Engineering Team Leader
ADMA

David is currently seconded by BP into the position of Drilling Engineering Team Leader in ADMA-OPCO. He holds an honors degree in Mechanical Engineering and has worked for BP for 30 years in a variety of international drilling engineering and operational roles, including jack-up operations offshore China, heli-rig operations in Papua New Guinea, land operations in Colombia and deepwater operations offshore Brazil. He has been in his current role in ADMA-OPCO since 2002 and has been instrumental in the development and implementation of the Well Value Assurance process (WVA) to manage wells as projects in order to deliver high quality, high value wells.


Adrian Southworth
Sub Surface & Wells Team Leader

Adrian has over 25 years oil and gas industry experience gained with major integrated oil and gas companies and in consulting to a variety of oil and gas companies. Adrian’s background demonstrates a broad range of experience, which covers petroleum, operations and reservoir management including asset management and development. Adrian joined the BP Sharjah team from BP’s Southern North Sea gas asset in Jan 2006 where he took up the role of Sub Surface and Wells Team Leader.
